Opening The Eyes

Opening The Eyes

Posted on April 5, 2012

Since there is no way for us to receive our spiritual blessings in the natural realm, we must have a way to gain access to the spiritual realm to appropriate the promises of God for ourselves. The problem is that we do not have a natural vehicle with the capacity to take us to a destination called heavenly places. Even if we did have a vehicle with the capacity to transfer us from the natural realm to the spiritual realm, we still do not have a GPS navigation system within our vehicle to help us get to our destination. How do we get to this place called heavenly places?

In Ephesians 1:17 NKJV, the apostle Paul tells us the way to heavenly places in his prayer, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.” In our relationship with Jesus Christ, the Spirit of wisdom is able to navigate us in the vehicle of revelation to a destination called heavenly places. The word knowledge here is not a reference to information about Jesus Christ. It is referring to the intimate knowledge of a person that comes as a result of experience through relationship with Jesus Christ.

In this kind of relationship we are able to receive the kind of revelation that will allow us to rest in the accomplishments of Christ:  Having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones).

The veil that has blinded our eyes concerning our own identity in Him is removed, “(so that you can know and understand) what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe.” The light of His under-standing begins to illuminate His glorious inheritance already in us through the many accomplishments of Christ, as we begin to get a revelation that our old self image has already been replaced with our new identity in Christ!

The exact, same immeasurable, unlimited and surpassing greatness of power that the Father put in Christ now exists in and for us. “Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His (own) right hand in the heavenly (places).” The power of Christ in us reigns:

Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named (above every title that can be conferred), not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come.  It is a power that exceeds the power of every rule, authority, power, dominion, and title that exists!

He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church (a headship exercised throughout the church).

The Father put every authority and power under the feet of His Son. Then He appointed Jesus to be the authority of the church. The authority given to Him would be exercised through the church. The word church here in the Greek is ekklesia. It means “the called-out ones.” The church is not a building in which people meet! The church is “His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all (for in that body lives the full measure of Him who makes everything complete and who fills everything everywhere with Himself).”
